The University of Rochester generally known as UR, provides student email system on its official website Mail.u.rochester.edu. My.rochester.edu is the University's student portal, which is based on a system called Blackboard. Technical support services (including website support and networking/telecommunications) generally for the University community is provided by the office of University Information Technology with dedicated support to College students, faculty, and staff for e-mail, desktop operating system and application support, and instructional computing.

University of Rochester’s Student Email System

University of Rochester’s student email service is available to all undergraduates, as well as Eastman graduate students. University IT provides student, faculty and staff email accounts. Throughout the University community, University IT provides email accounts to approximately 10,000 individuals

For student email, University of Rochester’s IT provides a Gmail interface which is called as 'URgmail’ in collaboration with Google. This student email system offers 6 GB of email storage including an enhanced mail search feature and Instant Messenger chat integration, access to Google's Document features, and full calendar features. New Students and Employees:

The New or Incoming Students will receive information about email account by postal mail prior to their arrival at the University. Get more information here. For new employees, hiring departments are responsible for account setup. So if you wish to request an account, then you can use the following forms that depend on your department.

• Administrative Departments (ITSF-026)

Graduate Students:

For graduate students, the University/College does not provide free email accounts. But some departments or graduate schools do provide email accounts for graduate students, a student who continues studies after graduation. For more information, you have to contact the administrator of your department.

The email accounts at mail.rochester.edu are used by most of the college faculties and staff. For the academic departments on the River Campus, Mail.rochester.edu is the primary email server. The University of Rochester’s faculty, staff, & students can use the server for storing files or hosting personal webpages. In the student directory, if your name does not yet appear, you can continue to use your student email account by entering your NetID and password. You should also continue to check the directory to your "first.last@rochester.edu".

• Open Mail.u.rochester.edu
• First enter your NetID
• Enter password
• Click on the Login button
