Recruitment for NIT Sikkim 2010 on nitc.ac.in has been started from 21st June to 10th July. National Institute of Technology is abbreviated as NIT. In 2009 under the 11th Five year Plan, the Government of India has sanctioned the ten newly NITS and Sikkim is one among them.
In this institute, the admission is based on AIEEE which is entrance test and conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The Service conditions for employees will be governed by the FR&SR CCS (Conduct Rules), CCS (Leave Rules) and such other rules mutatis mutandis as approved by the Board of Governors from time to time. NIT Calicut shall be mentoring the Institute for two to three years. Mentor Director (Director NIT Calicut) shall act as Director and traine such powers as Director till a full time Director is appointed.
National Institute of Technology invites applications from Indian nationals, possessing excellent academic background, commitment to quality teaching, potential for carrying out outstanding research, and an inclination towards institutional development for the faculty positions at the level of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in various Disciplines of the Institute. Once selected, the candidate will have to join duty immediately.

Following are the qualifications required for placement:
For all levels: Ph.D degree with minimum of 1st class (60%) or equivalent grade (6.75/10) at the B.Tech./ M.Sc./ M.A. level
Professor’s Experience: At least 10 years of teaching/ research/ industrial experience, out of which at least 04 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in an IIT, NIT or comparable Institute of Higher learning or equivalent of 06 years at the level of Assistant Professor. Professor’s pay band and grade pay is PB-4 Rs.37400- 67000/-) AGP 10000. And minimum basic pay is Rs.47,400/-.
Associate Professor’s Experience: At least 06 years of teaching/ research/ Industrial experience after obtaining Ph.d. Degree, out of which at least 03 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor in IIT, NIT or comparable institutions including CSIR Labs and industries. Associate Professor’s pay band and grade pay is PB-4 Rs.37400- 67000/- AGP 9000. . And minimum basic pay is Rs.46,400/-.
Assistant Professor’s Experience: No experience is required. Assistant Professor’s pay band and grade pay is PB-3, Rs.15600-39100/- AGP 6000. And minimum basic pay is Rs.21,600/-.
Age limit: For regular cadre age below 40 is desirable
Accommodation: Residential accommodation will be provided in the Campus of the Institute at Ravangala on joining the Institute as per the availability.

For obtaining the application form by post, please send a self addressed stamped envelope (30 cm X 21 cm) to the Registrar, NIT Calicut, NIT Campus P.O., Calicut 673 601, Kerala along with a Request for application form for faculty appointment-NIT SIKKIM enclosed.
There is no application fee/registration fee applicable at present.
Submit application forms with Xerox copies of certificates (Self attested), list of publication, reprints/preprints of publication and a detailed research plan should reach the Office of the Registrar on or before 10th July, 2010. Application received after this date may be considered in the forthcoming selection round or deferred to the next round depending on administrative convenience.
Incomplete application forms will be rejected.
Applications for faculty positions will be received any time during the year. Accumulated applications will be considered in the selection committee when it meets. Deserving candidates may be given short contract appointments depending on the need of the Institute and specialization of the candidate who may appear for a permanent position in the subsequent Selection Board.
TA/DA for journey between place of work/residence and the place of personal interview will be paid as per rules.
