Sextortion is the way of blackmailing someone specially teenagers for sexual acts. In other words, a form of sexual exploitation to extort people with a racy image of them and share it on the Internet. Nowadays, It is rising through internet due to everyone has webcam. Most computers are equipped with a web cam. The problem with a web cam on a computer is that computers can be hacked remotely. Hacked means the outsider uses another computer to control another computer. When a computer is hacked and a web cam is turned on remotely, people, who are in the room may not be apprised he or she is being watched.
Sexting, the act of sending sexually explicit messages or photographs, primarily between mobile phones, can be done on any media-sharing device or technology containing email and the Web. In some cases, kids responds to peer pressure in a form of cyber bullying or pressure from a boyfriend or girlfriend. Sometimes it is impulsive behavior, flirting, or even blackmail. when teenage girls started taking their racy pictures and sending them to their boyfriends. This led to several problems, like sextortion, when someone shows them pictures of themselves in embarrassing poses or situations and threatens to email/send those pictures to others if they do not comply with the demands of blackmailer, which generally involves providing even more sexually explicit pictures of themselves.
The nightmare started with a party, three teenage girls with a webcam, visit an Internet chat-room and yielding to requests to flash their breasts. After a week of that, one of those girls, who is a 17-year-old from Indiana, began receiving threatening e-mails. Due to a stranger said that he had captured her image on the webcam and if she did not posed for more explicit pictures and videos for him, then he would post the pictures to her MySpace friends. The teen did as her blackmailer demanded on at least two occasions. At last, police and federal authorities became involved and accused a 19-year-old Maryland man in June on charges of sexual exploitation.
"Sextortion" is a special term for the crime included in one federal affidavit:
According to a 23-page criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, at least 44 girls and 186 women were allegedly victimized in the so-called sextortion case. The number of victims are expected to grow by Federal authorities.
In states and federal courts, no one currently tracks the numbers of cases involving online sexual extortion but there is lots of Teens Victimized in a dozen states:

18 years old, Anthony Stancl received 15 years in prison in February in Wisconsin after that, prosecutor said that he posed as a girl on Facebook to trick male high school classmates into sending him racy cell phone photos, which he then used to extort them for sex.
On extortion charges, a 31-year-old California man was arrested in June after authorities said he hacked into more than 200 computers and threatened to expose racy photos, he found unless their owners posed for more sexually explicit videos. Authorities said that forty-four of the victims were juveniles. Federal prosecutors said that he was even able to remotely activate some victims' webcams without their knowledge and record them undressing or having sex.
